Well Hello.
I live in LA but I am a midwesterner at heart, I was born, grew up, and spent a good chunk of my life in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Get me around other midwesterners and you can listen for my accent to come out. I moved to LA for the sunshine and to pursue my creative dreams. I went to school for painting and had quite a run of showing in galleries and being in magazines and that sort of thing. However, I got my first camera when I was 5 (a polaroid) and my first real camera when I was 10 so, photography has always been a part of my life- this is proven by how few pictures there are of me as a child as I was the family photographer.
I have been shooting weddings since back in ye ol’ film days and still am known to bust one of my many vintage film cameras out from time to time. I even have my own darkroom, so you know I’m a real camera nerd. I really love process-back when I was painting all the time I made my own paint. I have always loved shooting weddings and I am now able to turn more of my attention to them and I am really excited about that. It’s been a lifetime of doing jobs that just paid the bills and I am really happy to be able to be working creatively now.
I am currently based out of LA but have friends and family in Joshua Tree, Wisconsin, and the Northwest. I love to travel and have traveled to family homes in Ohio and the top of glaciers in Alaska to shoot weddings. If this sounds cool to you, definitely send me a message and we can chat about how I can help you preserve in photos any of your special events.
Hey There!
Its an honor to be trusted by you to record such a meaningful event, I am always aware that photographs influence memory and I do my best to give you the best memories possible.
For the Love
I have shot family’s weddings, I have shot friends weddings and I have shot weddings that turned into friendships. No matter what the situation these days are intensely personal and I love getting to be a part of them.
The Gear Head
I paid my bills working in camera stores for many years and that has turned me into quite the gear head. I love the process of photography and still have a darkroom although I dont use it as much as I’d like to. I still have a lot of film cameras from 35mm to 4×5 and love to take them out but my main gear is now digital (Nikon and Sony). I pretty much take a camera with me everywhere I go and when I don’t I am always feeling like I am missing things.
The Rock and Roll Photographer
I have had many really fun photo gigs. I work a lot in music and have been David Lee Roth’s personal photographer for years. He even had me help shoot a Van Halen video which was a wild experience. I have been on tour and I love documenting live music. Much like weddings, you have to be ready for anything and anticipate action.
